GMPC ships with a utility called gmpc-remote. gmpc-remote can send the following commands to a running gmpc:

  • -b or --next: Play the next song
  • -z or --prev: Play the previous song
  • -c or --play: Start playback.
  • -v or --pause: Pause playback
  • -x or --stop: Stop playback
  • -q or --quit: Close gmpc.
  • -s or --stream: Send a stream to gmpc to play.
  • -t or --toggle-view: Give the running gmpc the command to toggle the window visibility
  • -h or --hide-view: Give the running gmpc the command to hide the window.
  • -k or --show-view: Give the running gmpc the command to show the window.
  • --spawn: Spawn gmpc if not running


GIT:

  • -e or --easycommand: Send an easy command query to the running gmpc.
